Title: Licensed Practical Nurse

Position Summary-To provide temporary nursing care assistance to the regular staff of a healthcare facility during time of staff shortages and/or increased patient census.  The licensed practical nurse will report directly to the designated nurse or manager of the unit where assignment has been made.  The licensed practical nurse is not an independent contractor.  The licensed practical nurse is a paid employee of Top Techs Temporaries, Inc.

Position Duties-Provide skilled nursing care to patients in accordance with physician’s orders within the scope of licensure for the respective state where the nurse is on temporary assignment. Assess clinical patient’s condition and initiate appropriate intervention and care consistent with the nursing process and the patient’s nursing care plan. Perform ongoing assessment of the patient’s clinical course and document observations in the patient’s clinical records. Develop nursing care plan and implement the plan, communicating goals and desired outcomes to other members of the healthcare team. Record observations and nursing actions in the patient’s clinical record in accordance with the healthcare facility policies. Implement care, treatments and medication administration in accordance with facility protocol and physician’s orders. Seek assistance from the healthcare facilities permanent staff with respect to patient care protocols and/or facility policy when questions arise.

 Report changes in patient’s condition to physician, receive physician orders, transcribe physician orders, transcribe physician orders and document such actions in the patient’s clinical record.

 Supervise and direct the actions of licensed practical nurses and ancillary healthcare workers consistent with the healthcare facilities policies.Communicate to other members of the healthcare team observations pertinent to patient’s clinical course and patient’s response to medical intervention and nursing actions.

 Maintain current licensure in good standing in accordance with applicable state laws.

 Maintain current CPR certification.

 Participate in ongoing continuting education for respective area of expertise.

 Participate in ongoing in-services to include but not limited to; bloodbourne pathogens exposure and transmission, universal skin precautions, fire and electrical safety, hazardous material handling, infection control, patient confidentiality and patient rights, safety awareness, tuberculosis awareness and violence in the workplace.

 Participate in random drug screen if so requested by agency.
